About a month and and half ago, I had a particularly nasty hard drive failure. I'm still recovering pieces of the web site from backups and the like, but it has been slow going.
I was able to restore the vast majority of the site from backups, but there are always pieces that require a bit more work than a simple restore. Most notably the fact that I moved the web site from the "hoover" machine to the "maggie" machine. Most everything worked right after the restore; however, those apps that require the database did not work.
The latest piece of the puzzle to be restored was the blogging software. Luckily this was much easier than I had expected, since the content was all still available within the database on the "hoover" machine. I just had to point the application to the correct database host, fix some file permissions, and then have the blogging software rebuild all of the blog entries.
What finally prompted me to fix this part of the web site was that I needed some information from it.
Today we went out looking for West Produce again, and experienced epic fail. Heather was sure she knew where it was, but after we'd been driving for a while, we soon realized that she had merged two different trips to two different vegetable stands in her memory.
So, we instead went and picked strawberries with the boys. This field was along 421 between Lillington and Sanford. Fun was finally had by all and the strawberries were delicious.
Information about where we picked strawberries today:
Just-A-Growing Produce (Go to http://www.pickyourown.org/NCpiedmont.htm and search for "Just-A-Growing"). 5705 US 421 N, Lillington, NC 27546. Phone: (910) 893-2989. Phone: (919) 499-8156.
Now that I have the blog back together, I see that we were only about 50% of the way to West Produce. It's quite a bit further than either of had remembered. Hopefully we'll get down there in the coming weeks.
